  • 70-80% of our immune system is housed in our gut - We never think of our immune system being so closely related to our guts, but it is imperative to the functioning of your whole system, and plays a huge role in autoimmune conditions.

  • The bacteria in our gut makes us who we are - The microbiome gets talked about constantly at the moment, so you have likely heard how important the bugs in your gut are. They influence your mood, your energy, food cravings and more!

  • The gut is the home of our neurotransmitters, the chemical signals that influence our mood, our energy, our sleep, our drive, our ability to put one foot in front of the other.

  • You gene expression - So much of what we are learning about genes is that “genes load the gun, but lifestyle pulls the trigger”. If you are worried about a family history of almost any disease, you can begin to counteract it by working on your gut.

  • And of course - your digestion! You gut is the central unit for taking in information from food. If it is sluggish, gives you painful indigestion, causes gas, makes you feel uncomfortable, you have to deal with constant bloating, or you need to lie down after every meal, something is going on in there.

I’m a clinical nutritionist (BHSc) and functional medicine specialist.I am passionate about teaching you to listen to their bodies, empower you to learn more about how your system, and tap in to the resources you have to improve your health.

I believe in accessible, honest information; in finding solutions where you feel stuck; and in using evidence-based functional medicine to lead you on your healing journey.

What is functional medicine? Functional medicine is looking at the root cause of an issue and finding a healing solution, instead of a top-down, bandaid approach. We combine current medical practices with foundational healing principles that have been around for thousands of years.

The 28 Day Gut Reset was a program that I needed. It came about at a time that I was ready and I actually found it simple to follow and I was amazed at the variety of food I could still eat and enjoy. I rediscovered my joy for fruit, as I had been told by so many other ‘eating programs/diets’ that fruit had too much sugar and therefore, was to be avoided. I have also lost weight, which is always a bonus however it is the improved sleep that took me by surprise.
